The Lawrence School

'The Lawrence Asylum' was constructed as a memorial to Major General Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence, CB, BT, LT.COL., ADC to Queen Victoria, KCB, who at the beginning of 1856 provided an amount of Rs.5,000 down and Rs.1,000 a year if the action was taken to find asylum at any Madras hill station similar to those already established in Sanawar and Mount Abu.
